A Cabin with a Story
The Outlaw Cabin is a living piece of Wyoming’s history. We purchased it from a fellow in Meteetsee, Wyoming, who specializes in finding and restoring old wooden structures. As far as we know, the cabin started as a Sears & Roebuck homesteader’s kit in the early 1900s. Each log was carefully disassembled, labeled, and transported to our ranch for reassembly.
Over the past few years, we’ve been pouring our hearts into this place to build it in a manner that pays homage to the history of the structure, its wooden planks and the original techniques used to build it, and the original families who have called it home.
Your Home Base for Exploring the Best Places in Wyoming
Whether you’re exploring the iconic sights of Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, immersing yourself in the quaint western charm of Dubois, or adventuring into the surrounding Shoshone National Forest, the Outlaw Cabin makes an ideal base for exploring the vast beauty of Wyoming. For more information on nearby attractions and activities, visit our Things to Do page.
Arcady Ridge Ranch isn’t just a business, its our family home and our dream come true. We’re passionate about hosting people from around the world because it gives a chance to share our appreciation for the history and unforgettable beauty of the true West. Of course, we can only take credit for a small part of the magic at the ranch—Mother Nature does most of the work!
Why “Outlaw” Cabin?
My dad’s sense of humor inspired it. We originally built this spot for our parents (an “in-law cabin” in most families), but Dad called it an “Outlaw Cabin” instead. We spent years renovating it next to our original hitching rails, where curious horses have kept an eye on our progress.
During construction, we saved as many original logs as possible, sourcing extra lumber from local forests milled by the Sharpe family in Crowheart. The result is a wonderful mix of old and new, expertly blended by our master builder, Shawn Beebe, with first-rate chinking work by Janeen Sayers.
Special thanks to Jerry and Sara McClintic for their support, and to our friends Josh Johnson and Luke Schuneman for helping transform this idea into a reality we can now share with the world.
