Meet Our Horses

This is a family owned business, but we do have some outside investors. 16.5 of them, to be exact. We rely on them to take care of our family and friends, our clients and special guests.  They are the heart of our business, and we consider them our partners.

Most of our horses hail from the Hargrave Family Farm in Iowa, where they were born and bred. They have a long standing training schedule: couple of years of arena work/cattle and team roping back in Iowa and then out to Wyoming for high altitude training and to learn to navigate the geographical ups and downs of this part of the state, as well as the weather!

Come Along

Come Along has the “let’s go!” energy and is the kind of horse that steps up and always ready for the trail. Traci’s go-to horse, he’s strong, confident, and a natural leader.

Butterscotch

At 35 years young, Butterscotch still has the heart of a horse half his age! Ena’s favorite, he works one easy ride a week just to keep in shape and loves showing beginners the ropes with his gentle, steady pace.

Bleu

Bleu is our rising star. The perfect partner for young riders learning the ropes. This year, he helped our ranch kid master barrel racing, proving he’s as patient as he is powerful.

Shanghai

Named for his antics in his younger years, he would “shanghai” his rider with a quick spin and decide to go to the barn! These days, he’s a seasoned pro who knows his job, enjoys his work, and can be trusted to carry anyone.

Joey Low

A returning favorite from last year, Joey Lo has a loyal fan base for a reason. He’s reliable, kind-eyed, and he’s most likely to participate in a ranch wedding … and steal the show

Claude

Big Claude is as photogenic as he is strong. A true standout on the trail, steady under saddle and always ready to pose for a picture. Around the barn, he’s most likely to make you fall in love with him.

Rooster

A favorite of Joe’s, Rooster has plenty of go and takes care of the kids from anything between barrel racing and slow trail rides. This little engine is eager for any job he is given.

Hondo

Hondo is twin to his brother Rooster, but not a pair you would want to confuse. He is a solid ride with a sooth gait, and capable of riding the trails, wrangling cattle, and pulling our antique parade wagon. He has a loving demeanor and gets along well with intermediate riders and above.

Jasper

One of Traci’s favorites, Jasper may be picked on by the other horses, but his heart is huge. He is a sweet dedicated creature, a loyal, gentle ride who always tries his best.

Benny

Benny spent years working hard at a neighboring ranch before coming to us. Now older and wiser, he’s the ultimate caretaker and happiest when there’s a feed bucket and a friendly pat nearby.

Cheeto

Cheeto is the smooth-riding younger brother of Come Along. New to our guest herd, he’s fun and easy to ride, though you might catch him sneaking a snack on the trail!

Brownie Sundae

He may be shy on the ground, but once he’s saddled, Brownie Sundae shines. He’s steady, smart, and happiest when he has a purpose.

Joe

New to the herd this year, “Joe Wetzel” is already proving himself as a top-notch lead horse. He’s reliable, and ready for anyone to ride! He is voted most likely to be the star of 2026.

Tibs

Small but mighty, the little go-getter who keeps the whole group moving. He’s friendly, and when he’s not on trail you’ll most likely find him half-asleep while the wranglers groom him.

Dagwood

A huge, beautiful paint with a heart to match his size. He is as kind as he is eye-catching. One of our most beloved guest horses, he is a top contender for “Best Hair” in the barn.

Ronnie

A guest favorite, he is trustworthy to the core. Steady on the trail, gentle with beginners, and always happy to go wherever he’s asked. With his smooth stride and kind eyes, he’s the kind of horse you can relax on and just enjoy the view.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon has a little extra spirit and loves to move, making him a fun ride for guests. With a big heart and a willing attitude, he’s as unforgettable as the trails he rides.

Little Red Sparkle

Little Red Sparkle, also known as, “that naughty pony,” belongs to our son, Buff. These two are a match made in heaven. And a little bit exhausting because you never know what they are going to get into. Probably trouble..
