Skis may be available to rent locally for those new to the sport or those who do not have their own set up.

Other self-guided winter activities available from the ranch are cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, snowmobiling, and ice fishing. We encourage guests to bring their own equipment for these activities, though some rental services are available nearby, including snowmobile rentals.  Parking for snowmobile trailers is accommodated near the ranch to allow easy access to a variety of areas, including Union Pass and Togwotee Pass.

Families renting the lodge are welcome to recreate on the property and nearby forest. We often take our kiddos sledding or pull them on skis up to the top of the hillside and let them ski down. These are not services offered by the ranch, but we are happy to point you in the right direction for self guided activities that are fun for the whole family.

Guests staying over the Christmas holiday are welcomee to get their own tree and decorate it in the lodge, as long as they remember to purchase the appropriate tree harvesting permit from the local ranger station.

Other local activities that are fun in the winter include bowling at Nanas Bowling & Bakery, a drive up past Ring Lake to see the petrogplyphs and big horn sheep herds wintering in the Torrey Valley, winter fly fishing on the Wind River, and cross country skiing on the groomed trails at Deception on Togwotee Pass.

The town of Dubois is also home to the Wild West Pickleball Club, which welcomes visiting players on Sunday mornings at the local highschool gym (Wed & Sun in the summer time at town park) Please make arrangements to participate prior to arrival. This can be done by contacting info@arcadyridgeranch.com.

Most of our guests choose the lodge to escape the crowds and spend time in natures, enjoying the surrounding beauty and wildlife here on the propertly. Still, they may like to travel a day or two outside of Dubois.  They may choose to take a guided snow coach tours from Grand Teton National Park to the historic Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park, sample the ski trails at Terpin Meadows Guest Ranch, or visit Snowking Mountain Resort or Teton Village in Jackson, Wyoming.  One of our favorite things to do is take a day trip over to Thermopolis and visit Hot Springs State Park. The boardwalk is beautiful, and the hots pools and slides at the Star Plunge and Tipi are fun for the whole family.

The lodge at Arcady Ridge Ranch is perfectly located to allow you and your family to enjoy the various activities that Wyoming winter has to offer, both here at the edge of the forest and in towns farther afield. Its the perfect home base to bring loved ones together to crete your own western adventure.
