Our horses are not just a part of what we do—they are the reason we do it. It is because of them, because of what they have taught us, carried us through, and shared with us, that we are in this industry at all. These horses have led us through highs and lows, rough patches and smooth trails, sunlit ridges and raging storms. They have shown us the best way to live in this wild country, and because of them, we are able to invite you to saddle up, too.
What they give us, they are willing to give to you—a moment of calm, a sense of freedom, a connection to something bigger than yourself. Riding a horse is simple and lovely, peaceful and exhilarating, all at once. These animals are not machines—they are living, breathing partners, and with every ride, they offer a gift to those who trust them: a glimpse into their world and the beauty they see from the trail.
With the reins in your hands, you’ll not only connect with your horse and the land but with your inner cowboy or cowgirl, too. Whether you’re a first-time rider or an experienced horseman, we offer horseback adventures ranging from two-hour rides to full-day excursions and even overnight pack trips—all designed to create unforgettable memories in Wyoming’s untamed backcountry.
We have horses in all stages of their journey—young spicy ones in training, carefully guided by our wranglers, and seasoned veterans who have been with us since they were colts. Each horse is brought along with patience and respect, because a great mountain horse is not born—it is made through experience, trust, and time spent carrying riders through Wyoming’s rugged wilderness.
From late May to early December, our horses work alongside us, navigating steep terrain, carrying guests to breathtaking vistas, and proving time and again their strength, intelligence, and surefootedness. But when the season winds down, they get the break they deserve. While some riding operations keep their horses working year-round, we believe that these hardworking athletes deserve a vacation just as much as anyone else does.
For the winter months, our horses run free in secluded pastures, where they roam wide-open hay meadows, roll in the mud, grow shaggy winter coats, and simply be horses—no saddles, no trails, no human demands. It’s good for them—mind, body, and soul—and when spring comes, they return refreshed, strong, and ready for another season in the mountains. In fact, they stand in queue waiting for a good long brushing, sweet molasses treats, and a scratch behind the ears.
Keeping a herd of well-trained, trustworthy mountain horses is no small feat. In an era where costs have risen across the board, the care and upkeep of these animals have grown exponentially. We invest in high-octane hay and supplements, regular wellness checks, vaccinations, ferrier services, and dental care—every horse is groomed, checked over, and given individual attention daily. Because they deserve it.
A good mountain horse is not a dime a dozen—they are one in a million. And we are honored to share them with those who ride with us.
