Our horse-assisted fishing expeditions help licensed anglers get deep into the backcountry to find the most beautiful trout streams and mountain lakes so you can test your luck with the Browns, Brookes, Rainbows, and occasionally Goldens that call Wyoming home. All Wyoming fishing trips should be booked at least one day prior to the requested date. Fall rides may be scheduled in advance, but are a little more weather dependent. Please do not arrive without a reservation. Walk ins are not accepted.

Meet up with your guide at the crack of dawn, quickly go over your gear, then enjoy coffee and breakfast and discuss fishing strategy on the way to the trail head. Head into the mountains on a trout seeking steed with a knowledgeable guide who knows the way to some hidden lakes and streams-way off the beaten path.

A day of horseback riding and fishing require stamina and the ability to ride through occasionally challenging terrain, at a walking pace. These rides give anglers access to high mountain lakes and streams, geological treasures, and views of some of Wyoming’s most iconic mountain ranges. Riders should be prepared to spend between 2 to 4 hours in the saddle per day.

  • Helmets

    Helmets are required for any rider younger than 18 years of age. Helmets are provided for all riders and it is strongly recommended that a rider chooses a helmet and wears for the duration of his or her time on horseback.

  • Cell Phones

    Riders are asked to place cell phones on silent/airplane mode and store in saddle bags during the ride. There will be plenty of time to take pictures, but from the ground, not from the back of a horse.

4 Day/3 Night Fishing Expedition Considerations

We give the same advice to our overnight pack trip groups as we do to those planning to book a multi day Wyoming fishing expedition, well slightly adapted… These trips take months to plan and implement. We take into consideration the vision or our clients and the projected conditions on the ground to build each experience. Much depends on historical weather projections to help determine the trailheads and trajectory of these trips. If its storming heavily in the Wind River Range and the streams, creeks, rivers are blown out with mud, we can pivot to the Absarokas if necessary.

Before you book a multi day Wyoming fishing trip, be honest with yourself about what you really want to accomplish. We are in Wyoming, one of the most rural states in the lower 48. Yes, bears are real. We are riding horses, out of cell phone service and generally submerged in nature. It rains, snows, blows, storms. Lightning hits the mountain top and then it hits the valleys. We ride up to the mountain tops and down to the valleys. Every weather condition imaginable happens within 5 minutes.

And then, you are casting against a golden sunset, wading in the stream, fish are jumping. Completely at peace in negative ions. OR you are sitting on the porch in JULY listening to hail drumming on the tin roof, drinking hot tea to warm your fingers, so you can tie a fly with a feather you found on the trail. Waiting for dinner to be served.

Pre-Trip Checklist

Day Trips

We want you to have the best time on your fishing trip, and that requires a little bit of preparation on your part. Below are some things you will need in order to spend time out on the trail:

  • Appropriate Clothing
    • Sturdy Wet Wicking Pants-Need to be good for riding and fishing
    • Long sleeve shirt
    • Boots (appropriate for both riding and walking)
    • Wading Boots (will go on pack mule)
    • Sun Glasses (well fitted)
    • Hat (well fitted and/or with buckaroo strap)
    • Layers (include a rain layer)

    Wear comfortable clothing, but try to avoid loose layers, flowing scarves, jewelry or non-essential items that could catch on the saddle horn, snag on a branch, or fall off while riding or fishing. When a rider needs to take off or put on layers, please ask your guide so that he or she can stop the ride. You will then dismount before taking off or putting on layers of clothing.

  • Fishing Gear

    Bring your own gear, or let us know if you would like for us to supply gear ahead of time. We know this is personal. We do have a fly shop in town and some local legends who can advise on what the fish in our mountain streams find enticing.

  • Helmets

    Helmets are highly recommended and made available to guests upon arrival. Please be aware that barrettes, hair extensions, large scrunchies, etc will be uncomfortable beneath a helmet and you should consider removing before the ride.

  • Self-Care
    • Full Water Bottle (hydrate as much as possible prior to the ride and during breaks in riding)
    • Sunscreen/Bug Spray (Please apply prior to the start of the ride)
    • Epi Pen/Personal Medication (bring along medication that you may need during the course of the day)
  • Cell Phone/Camera

    Cell phones are incredibly distracting for horses, riders, and guides. Cell phones must be placed in off or airplane mode prior to the start of the ride. Guests are not permitted to use cameras/cell phones while riding and must wait until they are dismounted and their horse is safely secured prior to cell phone/camera use.

  • Snack

    Snacks and lunch are provided for guests participating in half and full day rides. Guests participating in shorter rides are still encouraged to bring their own snack (granola bar/trail mix). Always bring water!

Cancellation & Gratuity

Day Trips

  • Refund Policy

    Clients who cancel their reservation more than ten days prior to the scheduled start date of their reservation will receive a full refund. Clients who cancel ten or fewer days prior to the scheduled start date of their reservation will not receive a refund.

  • Rescheduling

    Contact us by phone or email at least 72-hours PRIOR to your scheduled departure. We check emails and listen to voicemail every day. We will make every attempt to accommodate your request, but cannot guarantee availability. Reservations can ONLY be rescheduled once.   • Gratuity

    Gratuity should be paid directly to one’s guide at the end of the trip. While tipping is not mandatory, it is customary and at the client’s discretion. A standard tip runs anywhere from 10% of the total ride price to 20%, or whatever the client feels to be a fair amount. If there happen to be two guides on your ride, they will split the tip.

Overnight Fishing Expedition

  • Refund Policy

    Overnight trips take a lot of time and effort to coordinate and staff. For this reason, the refund policy is strict. Clients cancelling more than 45 days prior to the scheduled start date of their trip will receive a full refund. If cancellation occurs 45 days, or less, prior to the scheduled start date of the trip, clients will receive no refund. Please consider purchasing travel insurance when booking an overnight trip.

  • Gratuity

    Gratuity for a fishing expedition is to be paid directly to the Outfitter, who will then distribute to the guides, camp cook, wrangler, and other support staff who work behind the scenes to make these trips possible. While tipping is not mandatory, it is customary and at the client’s discretion. A standard tip runs anywhere from 10% of the package price to 20%, or whatever the client feels to be a fair amount.
